Ask the Experts | Ask the Electronic Access Ace | After Hours Visitor Access Control

Question:

I have an end-user that has several offices within the building in which, after hours, they want to be able to see who is at the door from their desk and be able to talk to the person. They would like to also have the ability to release the door if the visitor is approved to enter. Can you suggest a solution for visitor access control since most intercoms only have one or two inside stations?

Answer:

There are several solutions, but we usually make a kit instead. The kit contains a Vandal Resistant Door Station, a Audio/Video Master Station, and a Network Adapter. These components, when combined, will allow you to have the receptionist see video and talk, and also have the ability to release the door. It will also enable up to 10 PC users at a time to do the same through the network.
