Ask the Experts | Ask the Key Wizard | Cabinet Key Blank

Question:
A customer brought in a key for a cabinet with locking metal handles. The key was an Ilco key with the number T2 and the number H1122M on the head. Is there a substitute for this key?

Answer:
Use Ilco’s 1667 key blank. You also might try the Ilco O1122A, that key blank may also work.
Side Note: Ilco now has a new modular transponder head that does not use a battery. It’s the EH3LB, which is now in stock at IDN-H. Hoffman. If you are a registered owner of the RW4 Plus, EZ-Clone Plus, you need to download the free software update required to use the new head. The one head is good for both the Texas Instruments AND Phillips encrypted keys. Look for more details in the IDN Ad featured in the March edition of The National Locksmith.
