Difference between PT and PT4 Key | Ask the Experts

Question:

I found a Best original key blank; it looks much longer than a normal key. Would it be for an 8 or even 9 pin cylinder?

Answer:

BEST’s long blade key blanks, designated with a “B” at the end of the part number, are for when the cylinder is in an unusually deep recess in the door. Doors that have a deeply textured surface may not be able to mount a lock cylinder close enough to the surface of the façade, and would not be easily reached by “regular” length key blades.
