Anchoring Door Frame into a Wall | Ask the Experts | Ask the Door Guys

Question:

I need to install a new metal frame & door into an existing masonry opening. How do I anchor the frame into the wall?

Answer:

Generally when installing a hollow metal frame into existing masonry walls, the hinge and strike jambs of the frame would get “punched & dimpled”. This is done for the frame to receive expansion sleeve anchors. The anchors are put into countersunk holes in the frame & into holes which you must pre-drill in the masonry wall. When you tighten the head on the expansion anchor, the anchor will expand & grip the masonry wall.
