Can I replace an electrified butt hinge on a wood or steel door with any other brand electrified butt hinge?

Yes, but with caution. Electrified butt hinges install similarly to regular but hinges but have a metal stud protecting wires. The placement of this pin or stud varies by manufacture. From an installation standpoint, replacing this type of hinge on a wood door is less of an issue than on a steel door. On a wood door drilling a new hole or enlarging a hole is not so complex. On a steel door you may have to drill a new hole for the wires in the 7 gauge steel hinge reinforcement.
