Question:
Our customer would like to use magnets for his access control. What is the best way to ensure proper egress using magnets?
Answer:
Most local jurisdictions require at least two methods of egress with magnetic locks. We recommend a Touch Sense Bar or Mechanical Bar for the door, along with a passive infrared sensor that can be mounted above the door. There are different sensors available that can focus the beam to the door handle or can be focused into a large fixed pattern. Then you can always use a Request to Exit switch or button mounted on the wall. All of these solutions can work in conjunction, or separately.
