Question:

In a school, what can we do to enhance front entry door school security?

Answer:

Many things can be done, though a few suggestions include video intercoms and a Visitor Management System, among other things.

Video intercoms make it possible for staff to verify a visitor’s identity by sight before allowing them entry — at a minimum.

They should have a Double Entry System, where the office allows entry into a vestibule first. Then, upon identity confirmation, they’re allowed entry through a second door into campus or school. In addition, our Visitor Management System allows the school to have an on-site background check software and badge printing.  Remember to have visitor instruction signs displayed prominently on campus.

There are many other offerings available from IDN. I suggest reading through our School Security Solutions area and contacting your local IDN branch for an on-site walk-through.
