Where did you obtain this key information? It’s not listed on Codesource that is sold to locksmiths? Do you have other code sources available to locksmith? If not, why aren’t locksmiths able to obtain this information just like a distributor?
Thank you for your inquiry. We have expedited this inquiry to one of our Key Experts who answered the following:
The big four code programs are in alphabetical order, Blackhawk, Code Source, Genericode, and Instacode.
None of the programs have everything in them. What may be in one or two is not in the others or vice versa.
In this case, I used Genericode and scanned the list until I saw Emka/Ditek. It showed me the cuts etc, and a picture of the profile of the key blank, but it did not list a key blank. That’s where my 28 years of experience kicked in, because I knew Emka has used the blanks I listed and they matched the profile shown in Genericode.
As to the information being available to locksmiths, it is out there. It takes time and effort. Using this key as an example, the first time I saw an Emka blank was at a locksmith shop I worked at. I searched the Ilco key blank catalog until I was able to match the key to the profile. I duplicated it, and when the customer came back for more I knew I had a winner. The initial search took about an hour. That seems like a waste of time for one key, but I’ve probably cut several hundred of them over my ten years in the field. So it was worth it monetarily, and in word of mouth advertising (“this guy cut me a key that no one else could.”) I use the manufacturer’s key blank catalogs, code programs, the internet, locksmith trade publications, and other locksmiths in my quest to be successful. If your memory isn’t great, start a list in a notebook or on a computer and keep notes on the oddball ones you come across.
