Question: I work with a hospital that has electrified latch retraction on a few panic bars and they are having points deducted from their ratings because of the noise levels when these latches are retracted. What quiet electric latch retraction solutions do you have?
Answer: They are using the “solenoid” to retract the latch. This is what requires the large in-rush of power and results in the “bang” when energized. Some manufacturers now have a “quiet” version, that is actually a motor, and this motor no longer takes the large voltage in-rush. We also have retro kits available to convert the solenoid driven to a motorized. Contact us to place your order for these quiet latches!
